Osteopathy and Maternal Health

Kylie is passionate about women's health and well-being. She has worked closely with many pregnant women to ensure that they achieve the most comfortable, balanced and limber body they can throughout their pregnancy and beyond.

It is common in pregnancy for old injuries or issues to reappear. There are also an array of complaints that may arise throughout pregnancy that you never knew were even possible. Some women decide to seek treatment before becoming pregnant to ensure their body is at optimal performance before pregnancy, others only when the niggles start to appear during pregnancy. Treatment throughout pregnancy is aimed at ensuring the body can continue to move, grow and adapt to the large demands that will be placed upon it.

Treatment encourages a healthy and balanced body, minimising the presentation of added and unnecessary discomfort as well as giving bub the perfect amount of space to position itself for delivery. During a treatment particular attention is paid to the pelvis, lower back and diaphragm - all areas put under great stress during pregnancy and required to function at their best during labour. Treatment will address other areas of complaint, always working with the whole organism to obtain optimal health, freedom of movement and ease of function.

Kylie recommends treatment from pre conception, ensuring that first and foremost the body is functioning optimally before the demands of pregnancy are placed upon it. If this has not been possible monthly treatments after the first trimester can be highly beneficial in ensuring that your body is balanced and free to adapt with ease to the growth and changes that will take place. Treatment of the musculoskeletal system during pregnancy also assists in ensuring that when labour is near, your body is ready to move through the natural stages of labour with ease.

Kylie has extensive training and experience treating and preparing the pregnant mother and is willing to work with your selected health care practitioner, midwife, obstetrician or doula to assist you in achieving the pregnancy and labour you hope for.

Osteopathy and Pre Conception

Couples finding it difficult to conceive may also consider treatment. Treatment is always aimed at assisting the body to restore normal healthy function. If there is some tension or traumas present that are hindering the performance and function of the reproductive organs, treatment can assist in alleviating this. See Women's Health for more information.

Osteopathy and Post Partum Care

Labour has been referred to as demanding as running a marathon, and so one must be trained and in optimal health to endure this incredible event. Post event recovery is equally important although often forgotten about with the highs of bringing home your little one and the consideration of a million other important things. Kylie is passionate about women's health and You, new mum are no exception. It takes time for the body to recover from pregnancy and labour. In our world we are often not able to give it this time. As a result, weeks, months and years later women can be suffering from pain and discomfort that is a constant reminder of the labour you endured.

The body has its own intricate and exceptional way of assisting in recovery, like breastfeeding helping the uterus retract back to its pre pregnancy size. However, it is not always simple for the body to act out these normal and natural motions. Labour and pregnancy can be stressful and traumatic and it is then that the body will revert to a compensatory state, unable to return to optimal health and function as you remembered it pre pregnancy. If this is a familiar story for you or you want to avoid this being your story please seek treatment.  There are a multitude of gentle, safe and effective hands on treatment techniques that can assist you in your recovery to normal health and well-being from very soon after pregnancy. Kylie would love to be a part of this journey. She feels that it is imperative in ensuring you are able to raise a happy and healthy family.
