“The object of the osteopath is to find Health, anyone can find disease.”

-A.T. Still, Founder of Osteopathy

At Nourish Osteo we take a holistic approach to health care, finding the potential for healing in the individual and working together to create a treatment plan that is supportive.

An initial consultation involves a detailed history with a variety of questions about your past health history, a physical examination, treatment as well as discussion of your prognosis and any specific exercises or changes to your lifestyle that support healing. This process begins at home by completing an intake form that is emailed to you (check junk if you can’t find it). The intake form highlights the specific details of your health journey that may be impacting function and wellness. When we meet we will review this form and discuss specific aspects to your history in more detail.

How long is an appointment?

An initial consultation is 60 minutes and a follow up is 30-40 minutes. We also offer an extended initial consult that is 90 minutes and an extended follow up consult that is 60 minutes. You should select an extended consultation if you have a complicated issue or many issues you would like addressed in a single session.

How should I prepare?

Come as you are and be sure to stay hydrated for the treatment. Bring any scans or results of scans that are relevant to your current complaint.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable and easy to remove in case this is necessary. Most treatments take place fully clothed. Sometimes we need to see the affected area or treat directly on the skin and will ask you to remove items of clothing to achieve this. If you are not comfortable with this, let your practitioner know and we will work within your comfort zone.

What should I expect after a treatment?

Our goal is to bring your body back into balance and allow the natural healing forces to work to heal you and the affected area. This takes time. You body will be changing for at least the next 2-3 days after the treatment. Positive signs your body is changing is pain or discomfort in areas associated or seemingly unrelated to the presenting complaint. You may be more tired than normal. Some people also have changes int heir mood and emotions. In this time it is important to stay hydrated, have time for rest and eat well to support the body’s naturally occurring healing process.

How many treatments will I need?

As your body and the way it heals is unique we cannot give you an exact number of treatments that you may need. We can offer you discussion around the prognosis and the potential for healing. As a general rule, most people see results within 3-5 sessions. Some people use osteopathic care as a way to stay in good health, other stop in only with an acute problem and some come at regular intervals that feel good to their body to keep them healthy.

Are you a physician or DO?

No we are not medical providers or physicians. We have earned our degree in countries outside of the USA. We practice in the US under the governing laws of senate bill 577.
